How the Starlight Weather website handles your data

Last updated: 19.07.2026

This policy explains what personal data is processed when you use the Starlight Weather website, why, and what rights you have. Short version: this site collects as little as possible. There are no ads, no tracking cookies, and no sale of data.

1. Who is responsible

Starlight Weather
Sara
For further information, please get in touch by email:
starlightweather@fastmail.com

This person is the "data controller" under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — the one responsible for how your data is handled on this site.

2. What data is processed, and why

When you visit the site

The web host automatically records technical access data (such as your IP address, browser type, date and time of access, and the page requested) in server log files. This is needed to deliver the site securely and to detect abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are kept only as long as the hosting provider retains them: [hosting provider name and log retention period].

Fonts

This site currently loads the JetBrains Mono typeface from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers, which means your IP address is transmitted to Google (which may process it outside the EU). Legal basis: legitimate interest in a consistent visual presentation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you prefer not to have this connection made, you can block third-party requests in your browser. When you contact us

If you email starlightweather@fastmail.com — for example to request a forecast or another service — your email address, name (if given), and the contents of your message are processed to answer you and, where relevant, to prepare and carry out a contract. Legal basis: contract performance and pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) or legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your request and any legal retention periods that apply to business records.

Newsletter

If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address is processed to send it to you. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to us. Your address is deleted after you unsubscribe. Newsletter delivery is handled by [newsletter provider, or remove this section if the signup form is not active yet].

External platforms

This site links to external services such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Podbean and app stores. Clicking those links takes you to platforms with their own privacy policies — we have no control over what they process. The podcast and the Cloudy app are distributed through those platforms; any data notice specific to the Cloudy app is provided with the app itself.
